Here in South Texas it seems hard to believe that fall is here! I think we are all craving just a little sign that it is around the corner. It is coming you know. I felt it early this morning when I opened the door on to our back porch and caught the first sweet smell of crispness, and seeing all the children this afternoon happily racing around the pumpkin patch to find the perfect pumpkin, so you see, it is coming. Knowing this we are busy preparing to usher in fall with wonderful products to get you started celebrating the season.
A few of those are Caramel Apple Jam, Pumpkin Butter, and Pumpkin Chipotle Braising Sauce, of course, you can’t forget all the grill sauces for those tailgate parties. Did you know, our sauces and mustard can easily be made into dips, well they can and we will be posting recipes this week on the website just so you are prepared for the coming games?
Let us know if you have made a favorite dish with one of our products and if you’d like to share it we would be happy to upload it with credit to you on our recipe page.
Happy Fall everyone,

Any of you who have built a website know there are bound to be glitches! Our recipe page had the footer through the recipes for a couple of days while we tried to figure out how to move it. So this morning I got on the phone to Go Daddy tech and while I was explaining to him how I could not get it fixed, it fixed it's self ! He hadn't even seen what I was talking about yet, lol I felt pretty dumb but hey as long as it got fixed right. I think we, small businesses face these kinds of challenges everyday in one form or another and many times we are working on them late into the night or very early in the morning which is why we need our energy drink of choice, coffee, protein shakes etc. So if we look a little draggy at the Farmers Markets or out at the farm ask us if we've had our coffee yet, :-) . Today looks to be a beautiful day as the sun is streaming into my office window now so I guess that means I need to get going the Holidays are fast approaching and we are getting everything ready for some great reveals for you! Have a Great and Blessed day, Cheri
Have you seen how animals can predict when the weather is changing, well here in South Texas they are all scurrying around getting ready to hunker down. We have a very large rain event headed our way that they say will produce 5 to 18 inches of rain depending on your location. Events are being canceled, the grocery stores are full of people getting things for the weekend and unfortunately we are having to say we will not be at the Legacy Farmers Market this weekend. I certainly will miss being there but the risk of tents blowing, product getting soaked and clients risking to come out to support us is too great. If you need anything for the week ahead, please go to either our online mkt store mkt.com/deepriverfoods or our website deepriverspecialtyfoods.com and if you place an order we will work out how to get it to you. That way you won;t have to wait until next weekend to get your favorite product.
I will be working on some recipes this weekend and will be uploading them by Sunday. So check us out Monday to see some new ideas!
Have a Great Weekend and Be Safe!

Mango Habanero Curry Sauce

Wow, we have made an awesome sauce and it goes so well with chicken, pork or seafood. Wonderful subtle curry overtones with just a bit of kick from the habaneros, yum! My husband Jeff loves curry so I thought we would change up a recipe I had and make it healthier and tastier! This is our first Paleo sauce!! The sweetness you get is from dates not sugar, Yay!! So watch for more sauces in the future. Stop by the store and check it out. I will have pictures soon of some great ways to use this wonderful sauce. Don't forget to take a look at our facebook page; facebook.com/deepriverfoods and we encourage you to post pictures of how you use our products and if you want to share a recipe we and our followers would sure love to give them a try.

The month has gone by in a whirl wind of activity and now we are counting down the days to Turkey time! Every year my family makes a lot of traditional dishes as I am sure your own family does. I make Pumpkin Chipotle Soup and add a chopped jalapeno to spice it up and give warmth on a cold night, serve it with crusty rolls and oh how delicious. It's quick and easy when you know you will have all those fixings to make. I use our Pumpkin Butter to make individual pumpkin tarts and our Caramel Apple Jam is the topping to a wonderful and healthy cheesecake. I'll put the recipe for it on our recipe page for you. We try to make products that you can use in a variety of ways and perhaps begin a new tradition with a new recipe. May your Thanksgiving be filled with family, friends and many Blessings, Happy Thanksgiving, Cheri & Jeff

It's been a while since we've posted and so much has been going on. In January we started building our own small production facility and have been able to do limited production in it recently while we gradually installed shelving etc. we should be up and running full capacity by the end of the month and wears so excited. You will notice a small change in how our product store is set up. We feel that bringing you product made with the best in season produce means it is best for us to supply certain products seasonally to take advantage of our local farmers. So you won't find Caramel Apple Jam in the Spring or Strawberry Butter in the fall. Those are just two of the items that will go seasonal. Please excuse our mess while we make the transition. You can always email us if you have questions. Thank you for your understanding. Cheri
